What Other Tape Formats Do We Support?
We support recording and playback of VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, Betacam SP, DV, DVCPRO, 8MM, Hi-8, and ¾". We support playback of DVCAM. For additional information, see below.
International Formats
Kern Video Productions has a "world deck". This is a special VHS VCR that can record and play any video standard. In addition to NTSC (the North American standard), PAL, PAL-N, PAL-M, SECAM, and ME-SECAM are supported. If you need to send a copy of a video to a foreign office or a customer in another country, we can help. If you are not sure of the format you need, we maintain a standards list for all countries. Likewise, we can make an NTSC copy of any existing foreign VHS tape.
Betacam SP Format
Betacam SP is not familiar to consumers, but it is the "VHS of the broadcast industry". It is a high quality analog format that is widely used and universally accepted in the broadcast, corporate, industrial, and many other sectors of the video business. Most of our projects are mastered to Betacam SP. We can copy from any supported tape format (Including Betacam SP) to Betacam SP
Many production companies that use Betacam SP either cannot conveniently make Betacam SP copies or do so using inferior composite video connections. We are fully equipped to duplicate Betacam SP using analog component interface, which is superior even to Y/C. Kern Video Productions maintains a supply of both new and evaluated Betacam SP tape stock in all popular lengths. Fair duplication pricing and the availability of evaluated tape stock make our quality Betacam SP duplication affordable.
DV, DVCPRO, DVCAM Formats
Kern Video Productions has been using digital formats for three years. We can copy from all three formats to any other format and record to DV and DVCPRO from any other format. For further information, see the DV Info article.
